Sickness and Craters of the Moon

When we left Yellowstone Christine was stricken with a belly cringing pain.  Two days later I had the same thing, an ugly bug that had her curled upon a public restroom floor and had me throwing up for the second time since getting married. Luckily we think the bug resulted from bad food and no one else has gotten it.

Sandwiched between our pain we stopped at Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve.

Of course lots of photos.

The weather was perfect and we were able to hop off the freeway to see the lava flows. I had hopes for finding sage brush bird species but alas they eluded me. On the upside I was reminded how awesome Clark's Nutcrackers sound. Enjoy their sound and beauty in the video below.

The girls were quiet on our walk, allowing me to listen for birds!

We did enjoy some nice walks in the unique habitat amidst rock wrens, caves, and few people. It was a wonderful day. A Say's Phoebe stopped us on the drive out and our mammal ignorance had us take the video below...but as the title suggests we have seen many of these before.
